Common Skin Concerns
Many CGM users experience skin-related issues with device adhesives. Understanding and managing these concerns is key to long-term success.
Types of Reactions

- Red, itchy skin under or around adhesive
- Often improves with barrier products
- Not a true allergy
Allergic Contact Dermatitis
- Delayed reaction (24-72 hours after application)
- May include blistering or severe itching
- Requires avoiding specific allergens
Prevention Strategies
Before Application
- Clean and dry skin thoroughly
- Use barrier films or sprays (Skin-Tac, Cavilon, etc.)
- Consider hypoallergenic tape underlayers
During Wear
- Avoid excessive moisture/sweating at site
- Monitor for early signs of irritation
- Use breathable overlay patches
After Removal
- Allow skin to heal between applications
